Mac Studio Fix Fluid Review
Top Points:
- Medium buildable coverage.
- Doesn't become cakey with layers but it does look better on the skin when worn as medium coverage.
- Doesn't emphasise fine lines.
- Doesn't cling to dry patches.
- Natural matte finish, finished perfectly with Studio Fix Perfecting Powder.
- SPF15+
- Oxidised slightly
I recently visited the Mac counter in the Perth CBD to try the Studio Fix foundation. I'm a sucker for foundations and I'm always looking for my next holy grail.
We created a full makeup look to wear to the Swim Resort Fashion Show that afternoon. I wore a gold dress with gold jewellery and a bronzed glowy look was the perfect fit.
The Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation Review:
The Mac Studio Fix Fluid foundation is well known for being an oil-controlling formula, and I noticed it was great for wearing on a warm day and for oily/combination skin. I have combination skin with dry patches every now and then. I found that it didn't cling to those dry areas or make them more noticeable, it blended well and the finish looked even better with the Studio Fix Perfecting Powder.
Creating the look:
Blending my contour, highlight and eyeshadow was so easy with this foundation! My skin stayed smooth and the coverage was unmoved by blending and applying products on top. I was so impressed with the staying power while keeping a natural look - one of the worst things is blending foundation away!
I also loved the MAC Eyeshadow x 15 Palette in Warm Neutral. I definitely need to get my hands on this palette for some fun and sultry warm eye looks.
Coverage:
The natural matte finish has medium coverage but can be built up to full coverage for more of a glam look. I prefer a full coverage because I have a lot of freckles and a few breakouts but I love that the medium coverage shows my freckles while still concealing any spots. The finish made my skin look smooth and glowing for the runway event.
I did have to powder my T-zone after a around 5 hours but I feel like that's almost unavoidable with almost all foundations. I only had to reapply once which was great that I didn't have to keep checking in my compact mirror!
Final Verdict:
Would I use it again? Yes! I have used it a few times since. I like to rotate foundations during the week so I wear this each week.
Recommend to a friend? Definitely.
Best occasion: Can be worn everyday and layered for a night out too.
Favourite finish: I actually really liked the matte finish but would love to mix this foundation with a liquid highlight for a few
Cons: Oxidised slightly
I've also been loving the Lip Scrubtious in Sweet Brown Sugar and some of the skincare products, Lightful C Marine Bright Formula Cleanser and the Vibrancy Eye Cream. My skin always feels refreshed after using the Lightful C Marine Bright Formula Cleanser
Lip Scrubtious in Sweet Brown Sugar
This sugar-based exfoliator has a yummy taste and works well for gently buffing away any dry skin. Having mooth lips make my lipsticks look so much better!
Lightful C Marine Bright Formula Cleanser
My skin always feels refreshed after using this cleanser. The creaminess feels soothing and foams on application. My skin is left hydrated and soft, perfect for the morning before a face of makeup or washing off the day.
