Last Minute NYE Outfit - The 90's Slip Dress

Vintage silk slip dresses are back on trend, and if I had my way - they'd be here to stay! I adore this comfy feminine look, super easy to style up or down too!

These are my top tips for styling this fun piece!

1.  Choose a slip dress style

Deciding on a style will determine the accessories and overall look of the dress. I love the wrap dress, it can be worn loose or tight, and accessorised easily with necklaces. A high neck or square neckline may be better suited to a choker, or no necklace at all.

2. Choosing the jewellery style

Summon all of the 90's trends you can remember, false diamonds, glitter, anything shiny works with a shimmering silk dress. I opted for a glitzy star choker and a long circle chain. For these simple dresses, the crazier the jewellery the better - make a statement with your outfit! Keeping the crazy jewellery to just one or two pieces works really well. Match your necklaces and chokers to your rings. If accessories are loud pieces they may take over from the dress, looking busy and thrown together. I guess this tip is to wear the insane 90's jewellery, but be careful not over-accessorise.

3. Wear simple shoes

Simple strappy shoes compliment a silk dress perfectly. Keeping the focus on the dress works really well with a two or three strap shoe, or lace up heel. An ankle boot or thick strapped heel can cut legs at the ankle, making you look shorter! Plus, who doesn't love strappy heels for Summer! I'm wearing heels by Glassons, but below are some I love!

4. A handbag to survive the night

I'm an over enthusiastic bag packer, It's a blessing and a curse! For a big day or evening, I normally take quite a bit of stuff, but all essentials in my eyes! For this I need a reasonably good sized bag, something that zips or buckles down pretty well is also good. Keeping in mind the event you're attending - dancing with a huge bag isn't the easiest of things to do.

I also love a small designer bag, a black one is always worth the purchase. It adds an edge to the outfit

I normally take foundation powder for touch ups, eyelash glue, maybe perfume depending on the size of my bag, coin/card purse of course, packet of chewing gum, iPhone, lipstick or pawpaw cream, sunglasses and maybe even my portable phone charger. It's my survival kit! For this

I hope each of you enjoy your New Years Eve celebrations, be safe and show me your outfits on twitter! @izzysmithyy
