Lush Products Review

Lush cosmetics product reviews

Late March 2017 I attended the Lush Cosmetics Bloggers United Birthday Event in Perth! These are held all around Australia, you read a bit more about the event here - inclusive of embarrassing photos!

After the event, I promised to do a lush cosmetics review on the items I picked up in my haul. I've been using these products during the last week of march up until writing this post. I actually wrote half of my reviews with Cosmetic Warrior Face Mask on my face for way too long, oops!

I would love to know your thoughts on the products below, or if you had any additional tips & tricks, what's worked for you, or any suggestions!

Before I get started, my skin is a combination - mostly dry! I find I get oily throughout my T-zone during the day but will have dry areas on the lower half of my cheeks and under my nose. I find it to be super annoying to find products that accommodate for both ends of the spectrum at once!

1. ULTRABLAND $17.95 - Cleanser

The tub states to use only this product if you're having skin troubles, so that's exactly what I did! For two weeks I only used Ultrabland and in the mornings before work, I used my daily foaming facial cleanser from Sukin. I felt as though Ultrabland might leave a little too much residue to wear foundation afterwards.

I absolutely loved this product the second I massaged it on my face. Ultrabland melts down into an oily texture as it quickly warms on your skin. Massage this cleanser on, and it wipes off with a cotton pad with warm water. It does leave a bit of residue but I didn't mind! It left my skin feeling moisturised and supple after each use.

I have dry skin around the bottom half of my cheeks but reasonably normal to oily around my T-zone and I thought this worked well for both areas. I can definitely notice a difference in my skins texture if I don't use this for a few days.

This is the number one product I'll be repurchasing for sure!

What's in it?

Natural Ingredients: Almond Oil, Rose Water, Beeswax, Honey, Fresh Iris Extract, Glycerine, Rose Absolute, Tincture of Benzoin. Safe Synthetics: Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

2. COSMETIC WARRIOR $13.95 - Face Mask

Remember to keep this one in the Fridge! I keep kicking myself after I use it, I'm way too forgetful. This mask was suggested by my friend and blogger Hayley, she recommends it so I thought I'd give it a go. Firstly, it's freezing cold when you put it on, and it smells a little bit like a wet dog if you sniff it a certain way. Other times I get a whiff of Tea Tree mixed with Garlic which is not bad? It looks like hummus but definitely doesn't taste like it. I think Lush only sells two edible products?

The tub directions say to use a good amount and avoid the eyes. The mask turns solid after a few minutes, not rock hard - More like PVA glue stuck on your hands kind of hard, it's easy to forget you're wearing a mask. The mask dries almost clear - you could probably get away with leaving the house wearing it if you forgot about it.

I do like the coldness of the mask it's refreshing in the application! I like using this when my face is angry with spots. I always notice a difference the next morning, I wouldn't be surprised if this had magic healing powers. The Tea Tree is great for clearing skin, I've used it before for troubled areas!

What's in it?

Kaolin, Fresh Green Grapes, Fresh Free Range Eggs, Honey, Cornstarch, Glycerine, Fresh Garlic, Tea Tree Oil, Limonene, Fragrance.

3. HERBALISM $17.50 - Face and Body Cleanser

I've used this cleanser for almost a year now, I use it to focus on redness and almost like a gentle exfoliator. My skin feels calmer afterwards and especially the next morning. I definitely notice a difference in the healing of spots and minimal dry/flaky skin when I'm using this! Every now and then I use it on my neck and chest, and sometimes I can get a full face of this on my boyfriend!

I normally scoop out a 20 cent blob and mix with a tiny bit of water to create a paste before applying. I love leaving Herbalism on similar to a mask in the shower for 5 minutes while I wash my hair. Not sure if I'm supposed to, but I feel like I need time with the natural ingredients partying it up on my face.

This is the second tub I've used of Herbalism and by now I'm pretty sure it's the one for me!

What's in it?

Ground Almonds, Kaolin, Glycerine, Nettle, Rosemary, Rice Vinegar Extract, Rice Bran, Water, Gardenia Extract, Rose Absolute, Chamomile Blue Oil, Sage Oil, Fragrance, Chlorophyllin.

4. THE SACRED TRUTH $13.95 - Face Mask

I love that this product has primrose oil in it! I've read so many articles saying it's really great for skin, but I wasn't too keep on just slapping oil over my face. I feel like this was a mask for more mature skin, but I loved it just the same!

I have used this once a week for around four weeks and find my skin is so hydrated and smooth afterwards. I feel like it gently exfoliatesAre there any lush products that don't leave us feeling as smooth as baby butts?  If you do purchase this face mask, use it as fast as you can - the expiration date is short! I'm yet to see if it's still good past the expiration date, I don't think it's recommended though!

What's in it?

Honey, Glycerine, Kaolin, Talc, Fresh Papaya, Soya Yogurt, Bentonite Gel, Organic Evening Primrose Oil, Lanolin, Fair Trade Shea Butter, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Fresh Organic Free Range Eggs, Fragrance, Ylang Ylang Oil, Rose Absolute, Lavender Oil, Ho Wood Oil, Fresh Wheatgrass, Organic Ginseng Root Powder, Green Tea Powder, Ginkgo Leaf Powder, Bee Pollen, *Benzyl Benzoate, *Citronellol, *Farnesol, *Geraniol, *Limonene, *Linalool.

5. DREAM CREAM $29.95 - Hand and Body Lotion

Out of this haul, this is the only product I'm still unsure of! I selected this because it's great for sensitive and damaged skin. I feel like this is the only thing that didn't really have much of an effect on me! Plus I like the smell, it's so fresh! I know a lot of people say they can't stand the scent.

I thought I'd put it to the test and stopped using my normal moisturiser for a week and a half then began to use Dream Cream on my elbows every day. My elbows definitely felt soft and moisturised after applying the cream, but at the end of the day, they'd be back to their usual dry selves. After applying at night, they wouldn't be soft in the morning.

I really wanted this product to work for me and I will keep it just in case! The expiry isn't until 2018 so I definitely have another chance to give it a whirl. I feel like it will work well on the skin after a summers day as it's quite cooling even though it's not kept in the fridge.

I don't have eczema or any skin problems so I can't comment on whether it works in that area, but I can say that it is definitely soothing and a lovely light lotion for the morning! I will be using this lightly on my hands before I leave the house for work and I feel like it would be a good moisturiser for using on shaved legs.
