Bondi Boost Wave Wand Review
I have tested and tried the Bondi Boost Wave Wand recently and here’s my honest review!
The Wave Wand has probably infiltrated your Instagram feed recently! It’s a triple barrelled styling tool, designed to create ‘Mermaid Waves’ like the signature sleek Kim Kardashian look. The tool is for those boho or shiny beachy waves ‘without any frizz’, claiming that the curling iron works within seconds. I would say it’s similar, if not the same as the Mermade Hair Waver.
I have used the Bondi Boost Wave Wand a few times now since it arrived on my doorstep in January. Here’s a quick review on what I thought!
About my hair:
I have fine, long hair and a lot of it! It’s very selfish of me to say but I often wash my hair and dry it in the car with the window wound down. The looks people give me when I say this out loud makes me feel like a criminal. I am very lucky it looks semi-normal without styling, although it does make it more challenging to get a good curl. Straight and heavy hair doesn’t normally hold a curl well at all (hence the laziness).
Taking a styling tool to very stubborn hair was going to be fun! I filmed the process and have uploaded it as an IGTV so you can see the whole thing in action.
How to Use the Bondi Boost Wave Wand
Step 1. Heat Protectant Spray. This product comes free with the waver, a good little bonus! It didn’t smell bad and didn’t feel sticky on my hair either. I approve!
Step 2. Section hair.
Step 3. Seperate the barrels with the handle and place hair between them. Then essentially ‘crimp’ the section of hair!
Step 4. I held this for 5 - 8 seconds for the wave to hold well.
Step 5. Brush through with fingers and after a short while, slowly brush with a comb.
Final verdict:
I really do love using this tool to create a hairstyle very different to what I’d normally wear and something I personally can’t achieve with a curler or straightener. It is pretty much an oversized crimper. I hope that doesn’t trigger too many terrible flashbacks for you, I promise it’s different this time!
The only thing I did find is that holding the wand in place on my hair for longer obviously allowed the curl to stay for longer. The ‘within seconds’ claim is great if you want a quick wave in your hair but it definitely does look better if you hold the waver on your hair for up to 10 seconds.
This product was sent to me for paid content on my Instagram, this blog post is just something I thought I’d put together on my experience! This blog is not affiliated with Bondi Boost.
