Klorane Peony Shampoo Review
I have finally tried some new hair products! I get so many questions about what I use on my hair, how to grow it and how I maintain it. I often switch up between my usual salon shampoos between restocking so that I can try different formulas and see how they work on my hair. The Klorane Peony range is a good choice if you have a sensitive scalp. With a delicate pH balance, the ingredients soothe and hydrate - perfect for recovering from Winter.
The first thing that caught my eye with the Peony range was definitely the colour! The packaging is simple and I’ve never seen such a bright pink shampoo before. Not only was the pink convincing, the scent is so beautiful. I feel like I’ve stepped out of a peony field when I get out of the shower. Peonies are one of my favourite flowers and I blame Blair Waldorf for making me fall in love with them after watching too much Gossip Girl.
Something I learned about Peonies is that they’re well-known for being soothing and an anti-irritant, used in Chinese traditional medicines. These properties are what so many of us desperately need after blasting the hot water while washing our hair throughout the winter. I know that my scalp is always a little dryer after disregarding it in the colder months (sorry hairdressers!) and the three Peony products are super hydrating and comfortable to use. After washing, I love using the leave-in serum to keep my scalp hydrated and soothes for most of the day.
If you haven’t read any of my haircare posts before, I have lots of very fine blonde hair and it reaches my lower back. I have it coloured and toned around every 8-9 weeks. This is just so that you know what kind of hair I’ve used this product on and whether you have a similar hair type. I might get my partner to try this routine and I’ll let you know how he goes, he has coarse curly brown hair! Completely the opposite to me.
I start off with the shampoo, I only use the smallest amount of product for my scalp/top half, and another small amount for the mid-length to ends of my hair. I don’t like to use too much product and with this shampoo, I feel like a little can go a long way.
Next step is the Conditioner-Gel. I have read that some use conditioner first and shampoo afterwards, but shampoo first and then conditioner has always been my preferred routine. The smell is amazing once again and it leaves my hair feeling silky and soft. It is so important for my hair to be soft, if my hair is coarse or dry it tangles easier and it’s just a nightmare to untangle!
Afterwards, I whip my hair up in a towel to dry. Normally it’s still a little damp when I take the towel off and I apply the SOS Serum. My hair dries so quickly so I’m lucky this can be used on both wet and dry hair.
I have pretty sensitive skin but I’m not too sure how sensitive my scalp is! It helps that they’re hypoallergenic, and free from parabens and silicones so that I never have to worry about my skin freaking out! The last thing I want is to use medicinal haircare, they just smell the worst!
