Must-have Makeup Products for Winter

My favourite Makeup products this season!

This post is all about makeup appreciation! I love writing about the products I reach for every day, especially the ones I reach for to create more dramatic looks too. Trying to pick favourites is always hard for someone who loves makeup as much as me, it takes a whole lot of trying, testing, and wearing a full face of the wrong foundation for a day just to see if it's the one.

MUST HAVE WINTER MAKEUP

It can be so stressful in the search for the perfect product, but playing with products and creating new looks is all part of the fun. I'll always be modifying my everyday favourites list, I don't think it could ever be completely finalised!

Winter is a bit of a weird season for makeup. I definitely don't go out and socialise as much as in the Summer, so there aren't as many opportunities to create different looks every week! Skin can be dryer, aircon definitely affects me and I'm probably going to be eating a lot of pasta so my skin, in general, might not be in tip-top condition. These are products I've loved over last Winter, during Australian Summer, through 3 weeks of Japanese Winter in January and I've been wearing them all Autumn so far.

Eye Makeup Products:

STILA Eyes Are The Window Shadow Palette - Mind / $71

This is my number one favourite palette! I bought it late last year and I think I use it for almost every eyeshadow look! It's perfect for day to night look. I adore the burnt orange and the blendable nudes and matte browns.

The whole palette is very blendable, except for maybe the grey shadow. I find that all of the shades work well with each other, but my favourite shades are the central light brown shade, the burnt orange and the light pink/mauve on the left hand side.

Face of Australia Black Liquid Eyeliner / $8.95

I don't leave the house without winged eyeliner. I normally wing my liner from the middle of my lid outwards, my eyes look a little cross-eyed if I line the whole way along my lid. I love this liner because it's really good consistency and a fine line for a pretty cheap product!

The shade of black is always bold, it doesn't flake and it always lasts a whole day. I find that it only flakes if I apply eyeshadow after liner where I'm brushing over it constantly.

Covergirl Full Lash Bloom / $17.95 on sale for $12.56

I've used Covergirl mascaras since 2010 and I've recently switched to this one from the Lash Blast Volume Mascara. It doesn't clump very often at all! The bristles are plastic and always great for separating lashes. I normally keep a cleaned old brush to separate any lashes that do get stuck together.

For a volumised look I start from the base of my lashes, but if I am looking to lengthen my lashes I brush over the mid-lengths to ends of my lashes instead. The lashes seem lighter with this technique and stay curled up for longer.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade / $18 and MAC brow brush / $39

I use the Drip Brow Pomade in Taupe every day! It's lasted for so long that it dries easily but is easy to apply with a tiny bit of moisturiser. I love this product for both a bold brow or a really natural brow. My Mac brow brush definitely helps, the sharp edge makes all the difference.

Face:

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer / $52

This primer works perfectly with Estee Lauder Doublewear! It's super silky and I feel as though it fills pores and scars to create an even surface for a perfect foundation finish. My favourite thing about this primer is that it fills my fine smile lines that I used to be so conscious of! With this primer, my foundation lasts all day and doesn't dry out on my face even after a whole day at work.

Estee Lauder Doublewear / $54

Doublewear is still my favourite foundation, I write about it in my last every-day products post. I used to break out wearing it and only used it for a night time look or at festivals because it could literally last two days!

I'm the shade Cool Bone and I wear Tawny when I'm tanned. The only thing about this foundation is that I always need to wear primer and/or moisturiser. It doesn't work well on dry areas but it's still wearable. I don't need to wear concealer with this foundation which is the biggest bonus!

Australis Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder / $12.95

The best powder foundation I've ever used. The pigmentation is so thick you could just use this as a foundation on a good skin day. I use this to secure my liquid foundations and as a base for applying powder contouring and highlighting.

It's also so good for touch ups during the day! It blends well and doesn't leave streaks or marks, honestly a lifesaver in my opinion.

Revlon Sculpt + Highlight Kit x Chloe Morello / $24.95

I've loved this since I used it for the very first time in 2016! I usually mix the contour and bronzer for a warmer tone. I love this in summer to create a bronzed glowing look.

Becca Highlighter in Moonstone / $48

This highlighter isn't as harsh as I always expected it to be. I wear this some mornings to work just for a bit of brightness on my cheekbones and under my brow arches. It's easy to layer and create a really bold look with, but I love it best as a light application, a simple dusting over.

Colorpop Supershock Highlighter in Lunch Money / $10.69

Now this is the highlighter I turn to when I want to shine like there's no tomorrow. I apply this with my fingers and only to the very highest points on my face. Sometimes I apply Lunch Money to the inner corners of my eyes to finish off a bold eye look.

Estee Lauder Set + Refresh, Perfecting Makeup Mist / $50

A spritz of this over my finished look is always perfectly refreshing and never ruins a look! I often use it a little while after finishing my makeup and after I've applied a setting spray. It is nice during the day as a refresher, but I don't often carry it with me unless I know I'm in for a long day!
